GENERAL

The Handstand Press is a brand by Motion Impulse Ltd and is registered in Dublin, Ireland.

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using thehandstandpress.com website (the “Service”) operated by The Handstand Press (“us”, “we”, or “our”). These terms and conditions govern the way in which we supply our digital and (physical) print products to you.

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms.

Please read these terms carefully before you submit your order to us. These terms tell you who we are, how we will provide products to you, how you and we may change or end the contract, what to do if there is a problem and other important information. All rights not expressly granted in these terms are hereby reserved.

You agree to review this agreement periodically to ensure that you are aware of any amendments to this agreement, which may be made at any time.

By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms then you may not access the Service.

GRANT OF LICENCE

After you have completed the payment for the respective Handstand Press magazine Issue, we hereby grant you a licence to use the purchased product (“digital issue” or “digital magazine”). This licence is limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable and non-transferable, and is subject to the rights and obligations granted under these Terms. This licence is personal to you and cannot be shared or exchanged with others.

ACCESS TO MATERIALS

We grant access to all digital issues on The Handstand Press as per your licensing set out in these terms. However, please be aware that access may be restricted due to maintenance on the website or other unforeseen circumstances related to third party providers beyond our control. We agree to ensure that restrictions in access are as minimal as commercially viable.

Unless you have purchased a subscription, the purchase of one product does not grant you access to any other digital issue (present or future) of the Handstand Press’s Magazines. As new issues are added to The Handstand Press, these will be up for sale on the website separately.

Please note that access to any purchased product will only be granted after we have received your payment in full.

We may restrict your access to any purchased products if you breach these terms, including without limitation:

a) Failure to make any payment due to us; or
b) Failure to provide accurate information that is necessary for us to provide the Products to you.

In these circumstances, we reserve the right to restrict your access to any product without further notice.

PURCHASES, PRICING AND PAYMENT

If you wish to purchase any product made available through the Service (“Purchase”), you may be asked to supply certain information relevant to your Purchase including, without limitation, your country of residence and credit card issuing country (in accordance to the EU VAT regulation) and your email address.

When placing an order, you agree to sign up for our newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time.

We use Stripe as third party payment provider. Payment for the products must be made at the point of purchase. You agree to provide payment for the Products in Euro (€) currency and you will be liable to pay any relevant conversion charges, as well as applicable sales tax in your region.

The Handstand Press magazines are one payment only products respectively, and your initial payment includes the licensing of the purchased product for an unlimited period of time with no ongoing or future costs. If you have

We reserve our right to review and change the pricing of our magazines. This will not affect magazines that have already been purchased.

As per the VAT standard of the EU we are obligated to charge VAT at the rate that applies in Ireland if you are a resident in the EU. A customer’s location needs to be proved using two non-conflicting pieces of proof. We determine the location using (1) Credit card country and (2) Country from billing details page.

UPDATES TO PURCHASED PRODUCT

Our aim is to provide magazines of the highest quality. As such, improvements or changes to The Handstand Press digital issues may occur at any time without prior notification. We reserve the right to continually update and change any of the available digital magazines. Once any of these products has been purchased, your licence will stay valid regardless of updates, upgrades and changes made to the file. The amended product will automatically become available for you to use in your account.

CANCELLATION POLICY AND REFUNDS

Where an online product is delivered to you immediately, you will not have the right to return the purchased product. In other cases, you may change your mind within fourteen (14) days of purchase, so long as materials have not been downloaded, streamed or otherwise accessed or have not been provided to you.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the system requirements, including compatible hardware, software, and internet service, prior to purchasing any content. We are unable to provide refunds where your access to the Products is inhibited due to insufficient system requirements.

We are unable to provide a refund except at our absolute and sole discretion.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All rights, title and interest in intellectual property rights relating to The Handstand Press Products shall exclusively be owned by the respective collaborateurs of The Handstand Press. While you may utilise the intellectual property, you understand that there shall be no transfer of ownership of the same. Nothing that you see or read in the Products may be copied, reproduced, modified, distributed, transmitted, republished, displayed or performed for commercial use. All other trademarks, service marks and trade names in this material are the marks of the respective owners and any unauthorised use is prohibited.

DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY

We take your privacy very seriously and commit to protect all personal information transferred to us in the process of using our Service.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by The Handstand Press.

The Handstand Press has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third party websites or services. You further acknowledge and agree that The Handstand Press shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods or services available on or through any such websites or services.

CHANGES TO THESE TERM

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material we will try to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

Terms for submission
  • Submissions will only be considered if the artist/author owns the rights to the submitted work
  • For previously finished work, all artists and writers retain the rights to their work
  • For commissions by the Handstand Press, we reserve the right of first publication. Afterwards, the rights remain with the artist or author
  • We cannot guarantee publication in the Handstand Press. If submitted work is not chosen for publication, this is no statement to the quality of your work but merely indicates that it was not suitable for our current editorial.

The Handstand Press accepts written work of all kinds, academic, theoretical, opinion pieces, poetry, or whatever you can think of. While we want opinion, and want to facilitate room for differing opinions, make sure to keep a respectful tone towards the community at all times.

All written submissions are chosen with our readers in mind. Please make sure the piece offers insight and value to our readers. Articles that read like ads will not be considered for publication.
